1989 International Street And Evangelism Ministry Directory
We are very happy, finally, to offer you the new 1989 ISEMA Directory. This Directory lists over 400 street and evangelism ministries, almost 100 of which are in other nations. A brief description of the ministry is included with most listings. This Directory can help you in many ways. 1. You can learn about other ministries in your area. We hope the Directory will facilitate communication between Christians interested in evangelism. 2. If you are traveling, you can contact other ministries in the places you are going. 3. When you lead people to Christ from another place, you can give them an address of a ministry to contact for follow-up. 4. You can contact other ministries which are doing some specialized type of outreach you are interested in. 5. The Directory lists a dozen sources of tracts and Bibles. The 1989 ISEMA Directory is available for $5 to 1989 ISEMA Members, $12 to non-members, postage paid. We hope this will give you another good reason to join ISEMA, or renew your membership.
Training Evangelists While They’re Still in High School

Last June, Paul Harvey reported in his national radio newscast, “I hear seminary students praying to be sent to the uttermost islands, but few praying that the Lord will send them to South Chicago or East St. Louis and Watts…Starting in two weeks 400 young evangelists–high school and college age–will take on Chicago….Four hundred could make a difference? Once upon a time the whole dark world was enlightened–by a `youth group’ of only twelve.”
Last July, 324 high school students and 79 youth workers came to Moody Bible Institute to participate in the Summer Evangelism and Missions Project (SEMP), sponsored by Sonlife Ministries. During this eight day period, the students witnessed on the streets and door-to-door in Chicago, Naperville and Wheaton. There was also training in apologetics and practical evangelism.
About 8000 people were exposed to the gospel during this period, 214 people prayed to receive Christ, and another 550 gave their names and addresses for follow-up by local churches. “For over 50 of the participants, this was the first time they’d led someone to Christ. The looks of joy and excitement on the faces of students as they returned from their three-hour sessions on the streets indicated how they felt about witnessing. Two radiant students told about approaching a couple to share Christ. The couple responded by saying that for the last three days they’d been trying to discover if there really is a God.”

Resources-Ministry to Homosexuals
Exodus International is a world-wide network of Christian ministries to homosexuals. They can refer you to a ministry near you and offer a variety of literature on various subjects relating to sexual problems. They also offer a Phone Counseling Manual--how to answer all kinds of difficult questions ($21.50) and Starting a Ministry ($21.50)–a practical guidebook for starting a ministry to homosexuals. Their 14th annual North American Conference will be held June 25-July 1 in Philadelphia. Cost for the week, including housing and meals, is $350 (deadline June 10.) Over 70 workshops will be taught on a wide variety of subjects, and it is an excellent opportunity to learn about this kind of ministry and meet others who are involved in ministering to homosexuals. Ministry Needs
I am really excited to read the listings above of so many outreaches that are coming up in the next few months. Please be praying for these outreaches and pray about which you should be involved in. Jesus said, “the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few.” Our purpose in ISEMA is to help those who are presently laboring in the gospel, and to encourage others to join them. There is great strength in unity. We can accomplish this purpose much better by working together, helping one another. This vision won’t happen overnight, but it will happen with your prayers, involvement, and financial support. You can begin by joining ISEMA if you haven’t done so. Please pray about supporting ISEMA on a monthly basis so we will have the funds to expand our services to ISEMA members. Please continue to send us information about what is happening in your area, teachings, and suggestions about how we can serve you better in 1989. Please continue to keep us in prayer that God will guide us, strengthen us, and provide for our needs.
Our tape of the month is called “Witnessing to Homosexuals” by Frank and Anita Worthen, Directors of Love in Action, one of the oldest and largest Christian ministries to homosexuals. I think you will find this teaching a great help in understanding homosexuals so you can witness compassionately to them and others with life-controlling problems.
